METHODS

Christina Preston has an M.Sc. in Community and Regional Development from UC Davis and a B.A. in anthropology. For over 15 years, she has worked in non-profit and program development, community relations, grant writing, volunteer management, outreach, non-profit marketing, public relations, and fundraising, with a proven track record of success. Preston uses creative methodologies to achieve objectives and goals for her clients; she is an expert at building relationships and networking with individuals and organizations who can help further the reach and impact of her clients' work. In 2022-23, Preston successfully wrote grants that brought in over a half million dollars to non-profits in Sacramento.

 

Preston also has an in-depth background in designing and conducting qualitative research, from conducting interviews, and focus groups, designing surveys and questionnaires, and developing tools to help organizations facilitate dialogue between community members, colleagues, and other constituents. In addition, Preston utilizes her creative writing skills to author community and organizational historical narratives, mission statements, case studies, timelines, didactic materials, and funding proposals. Preston also has a background in digital photography and conceptual art to create impactful communication campaigns.

Preston has worked extensively in the arts, humanities, higher education, and natural sciences in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo County. She also worked with several organizations addressing equity, diversity, and inclusion. Clients have included the American River Historical Association, Gerlach General Improvement District, Effie Yeaw Nature Center, La Raza Galeria Posada, UC Davis, City of Sacramento, and the California Arts Commission.

Community Service 

Preston also serves service to the community as a scholarship reviewer for the Honor Society of Phi Kapp Phi, mentors for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of  Northern Sierra, and serves as the fire tower coordinator and lookout for CalFire in El Dorado County. In addition, Preston serves on the board of directors for the Flight Test Foundation Museum located outside of Edwards Airforce Base.
